Natural Fly Spray Recipes and other Helpful Hints

Recipe One

2 cups white vinegar
1 cup Avon Skin-So-Soft
1 cup water
1 Tablespoon Eucalyptus oil or Citronella oil (optional)
Mix well and either spray or wipe on

Recipe Two

1 oz Citronella oil
2 oz Avon Skin-So-Soft
1 cup apple cider vinegar
Mix well and spray on

If you horse is allergic to fly bites, try using 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar on their grain once a day. This raises the blood acid level just enough to bother the flies, but it is completely healthy for the horse. It usually takes about a week to start seeing results.

Apple cider vinegar in the water tanks during the spring/summer/fall will help repel the flies and mosquitoes.

Homemade 'Show Sheen' Recipe
1/4 cup Conditioner
1/4 cup Avon Skin-So-Soft
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons vinegar (optional) Mix well and apply sparingly to a clean horse. Brush after you spray. The vinegar helps to repel the flies also once the sheen is on.

New idea!

Buy a box of unscented babywipes, take them out a small stack at a time, and squeeze all the liquid out. Return wipes to box and saturate with your favorite fly mixture. Is perfect in the wind and works excellent on horses who are afraid of sprays.

Fly Predators

I have found these to be very effective in helping with fly population control.
